Student Resources

We're here for you even before you graduate!

Current students can take advantage now of Alumni Association services and programs designed to enhance your campus experience and prepare you for success when you graduate. Below are a few of the events and programs we offer:

Student Leadership

Students can be more directly involved with our office in a few different ways. We currently advise OFAN (Oneonta Future Alumni Network) as well as the sophomore, junior and senior classes.

OFAN  members are students who have the opportunity to network and meet a variety of our alumni population and community representatives while acting as hosts at alumni and college advancement events.

Class Officers: These students are members of their graduating class who help to boost pride in the institution by planning events that celebrate the student road to commencement. Elections for the executive board take place during the first year, but interested parties should reach out via campus connection to join a class committee or help with an event. There are openings for executive board positions beyond the first-year, and information about those will be posted to campus connection.

networking

LinkedIn: It is never to early to join the SUNY Oneonta Alumni Association Group on LinkedIn. Leverage the power of our alumni network to connect with alumni, and their non-alumni contacts. Find inside connections to jobs, industry experts and business partners. Only alumni and select members of the SUNY Oneonta community may join. Please note: LinkedIn operates independently from our SUNY Oneonta Red Dragon Alumni Network; be sure to keep your profile up to date also.

Virtual/Hybrid Programs: Our office continues to offer a variety of programs in partnership with many academic departments. We encourage all students to create a profile with our SUNY Oneonta Red Dragon Network (link here – because I plan to have this page not require login) so that you have access to our calendar of events (link this). Even if our presenter may be coming as a business major, the power of a liberal arts degree is that many alumni can offer advice and assistance to any majors. Step outside of your major and see who is coming to a classroom or seminar near you! Beyond their advice, it is helpful to continue to foster and develop relationships (aka networking) often. Not sure how to prepare? Check out our biggest tips for success here.

Job Board

Jobs for Oneonta alumni and students, posted exclusively by Oneonta alumni. Search the alumni job board for exclusive jobs listing by and for Oneonta alumni. You can search for jobs available to you as an Oneonta alumni and you may also post job opportunities for other alumni.

awards

The Alumni Association offers a multitude of awards each year and one of them is for student leadership. We encourage you to nominate yourself (with a letter of support from another source) or your friends, classmates, club partners. The honoree is recognized each year at a ceremony at alumni weekend. For full details head over to our awards page by clicking here.

get involved

We are often looking for volunteers to help us with a variety of career programs. Whether it is coming to campus to meet with a class, being a host on a career focused panel, or being a site host for some of our campus to career programs. Please sign up here (link to volunteer page) and indicate your interest in career programs. A member of our office team will reach out to get specifics and get you engaging with our students.
